Stroud, Wellston, Davenport receive Rt. 66 Grants

Three more towns in Lincoln County have received grants from the Route 66 Commission for improvements before the Route 66 Centennial in 2026. Stroud was awarded $999,600, Wellston received $792,506, and Davenport was awarded $395,500, according to the Commission.

Bench warrant issued for Chandler woman for $25,000

By Mike McCormick Staff Writer A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Chandler woman who failed to make her court appearance and an arraignment has been scheduled for a man facing the same charges.

Commissioners special meeting

Lincoln County commissioners have adopted a resolution for a grant application for Sheriff’s Office funding assistance.They also approved a grant contract with the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for counseling services at the county jail.

Committee to investigate Department of Education

Rep. Kevin Wallace, RWellston, has announced that the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) would begin an investigation into spending concerns regarding the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE).

Davenport man arrested

A Davenport man faces a felony drug count and two other charges following his recent arrest by a Lincoln County Deputy.

Meeker backs up on Meeker Lake water request

Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week voted to withdraw its request to increase the municipal water supply to 2,790 acre feet and instead retain the current water supply of 1,000 acre feet as part of the Meeker Lake dam rehabilitation process.

Chandler approves long-term development plan

The Chandler City Council approved a roadmap for development over the next 25 to 30 years. At their monthly meeting on Aug. 12, they adopted the Comprehensive Plan compiled by Kimley-Horn.

Hearing set for Meeker woman on felonies

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Meeker woman facing two felonies as a Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff suffered a broken leg as he attempted to arrest her while responding to a domestic disturbance.
