Things are moving along on the miniature golf course. We had problems with rain leaks, but David Evans and Charlie Webb think they figured out how to fix them. Keep your fingers crossed that the building is dry after our next rain.

Crawfish Festival

The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 5th Annual Bell Cow Boil Crawfish Festival, 5-9 p.m., Friday, April 29. The event will be in the south pavilion of Tilghman Park in Chandler. Tickets are on sale for $20 each. Under age six is free with paid adult ticket.

Hearing continued in homicide

A hearing on a motion to dismiss a first degree murder charge against a Wellston man has been continued until April. Freddie Antonie Seamster, 38, is accused of fatally shooting 21-yearold Lucas Goss with a firearm in Lincoln County on July 5 last summer.

Warrant issued in robbery

A $100,000 bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Wellston woman for allegedly robbing a man at his residence, Charissa Dawn Bell, 28, faces a felony charge of first degree robbery and reckless conduct with a firearm, a misdemeanor.

Meeker Middle School honor roll

Officials at Meeker Middle School released the names of students on the honor rolls for the third nine weeks of the 2021-2022 school year. The following were on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. 6th grade - Anna Birdsong, Kallie Caldwell, Kenzie Grandstaff and Keaton Treat.

It was a touch before dusk as I headed down Highway 18 a few days ago. In the slalom between Chandler and the Deep Fork River, I saw a large black animal in the right of way on the east side of the road. It had its head down, as if eating, but looked up when it heard my minivan. Dang.

Kingdom of Heaven

The Lord said over 3,000 years ago that man burns their children with idolatry. We cannot put anything before Him. I think we really need to stop and think about this. We are supposed to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Do we worship things made with the hands, or do we put God first.

It has been an exciting but stressful few days at the Smalley/Reed household. Last Thursday around 4:00 p.m. Larry told me he was having trouble breathing. This continued until about 9:00 p.m. He wasn’t getting any relief so we went to a small emergency room in Tulsa.

We kept the grandson part of last weekend, including overnight on Saturday and took him home to Norman late Sunday afternoon. Little Liam is 3½ and he’s busy from the time he gets here until we take him back to his parents unless he’s sleeping. He’s so much fun, though.

Daylight Savings Time returned this past weekend. According to the calendar, we’ll have it until Nov. 6 when it goes back. I’m happy for the return once again because there is more time in the evening for opportunities for activities.
