I was watering on Main Street last Friday morning and got to visit with some nice people who were visiting our community. The first two ladies I met, pictured to the right, were Gracie Szakin (left) from Coffeyville, Texas and Joey Hoecker (right) from Edmond, Oklahoma.

Consequences of vacation

They say every vacation has it’s consequences and I am suffering through mine. Last week, I went to Phoenix, AZ to surprise my sister for her birthday. I had a great time catching up with family, seeing old friends, exploring new canyons and trying new foods.

Tuesday may have been the nicest day in the history of weather. Sunny, just a hint of coolness early in the morning. A perfect day for anything you want to do outside. But wait. What’s that hovering just over the horizon? Why, it’s chilly weather, that’s what it is.

1. Update on Meeker Lake “Quapaw 15 Project A. We found out why Oklahoma City Conservation office was so hard to get on the phone. Wade Helms at the Chandler Conservation office told me the OKC office has been sent home again for COVID-19.

Looking back on 2020’s resolutions

Beginning today, there are three months remaining in 2020. As we know, this has been a most unusual year. Most people I have visited with describe it as “crazy” and some have added they are ready for 2020 to be over. That’s been a theme of some of the conversations I’ve had with people.

Town Talk

Can you believe it’s October already? It’s a little easier to believe since the temperatures are going to be in the 70’s most of this week. I want to send out birthday wishes to my nephew, Casey Smalley, who turns 33 today.

The Happenings

Prairie Pointe was thrilled to receive notice their favorite friend, Joe Bill Shelhope, is on the mend and doing great after knee replacement surgery. Sharon brought by the good news last Thursday along with donuts and an adorable door decoration hand crafted by her granddaughter.

Autumn

We’re a couple of days into fall and already we’ve had one of my favorite autumn things: a cool, rainy morning.
