Chandler Jr. High Academic Team competed in OAAC’s Challenge of the Champions, the state tournament, on May 15. They are the Division I Runner-Up, winning 6 out of the 7 games they played. They had the same win/loss record as Drummond; they came in as runner-up based on points.

Four area players were named to the All-State team for the Oklahoma Slow Pitch Coaches Association. A trio of Dale seniors - Anna Hester, Danyn Lang and Emilia Idleman - were named to the squad. Joining them on the West team from midsized schools was Stroud’s Emma Davis.

Emma Davis was named the 66 Conference slow pitch MVP and Lady Tigers coach Lezli Robinson was named Coach of the Year. The selections were announced last week. The league champion Lady Tigers had four firstteam selections - Jadyn Young, Macey Morris, Skyla Baker and Kylyn Baker.

Dale heads to state in baseball

The Dale Pirates, fresh off of another Regional championship, begin action Thursday (today) in the state Class 2A baseball tournament. The Pirates, sporting an overall season record of 26- 3, will take on Hartshorne at 4 p.m. at Palmer Field at Dolese Park in Oklahoma City.

COVID cases tick slightly upward

The number of new cases in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped a little in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show. There have been no new deaths in Pottawatomie County but there has been one in Lincoln County since the last report.
