Gun season for deer starts on Saturday

Oklahoma’s statewide deer gun season opens Saturday and area Game Warden Jacob Harriett predicts, “It’s going to be a good one.” Harriett, assigned to Lincoln County who also assists in Pottawatomie County, said earlier this week, “Bucks are moving really well. Lots of big bucks are chasing does.

Randall runs to gold

After winning his cross-country regional by about 45 seconds, Riley Randall checked the times of the winners at the other two regionals in the state. He’d had to miss the 66 Conference meet and another meet due to a quarantine from COVID-19 exposure and he wanted to see how his time compared.

Lions run past Prague

The game was less then three minutes old when Kaden Jones sliced through the line and ran 35 yards for a touchdown to give Chandler a 7-0 lead against Prague. It was a lead the Lions never relinquished, and the play became a blueprint for the game.

Playoff schedule

The COVID-influenced football playoffs begin Friday night with six area teams involved in the post-season. Chandler, which finished 7-3 and was second in district 2A- 2, hosts the Alva Gold Bugs at 7:30 Friday night.

Regent Prep gives Bulldogs first loss of season

Regent Prep put up a flurry of points early and late and held on for a 62-58 win over Davenport Friday night. The Rams scored the first 21 points of the game and 19 of the last 25. Once they scored, the Bulldogs made up ground in a hurry, going from 21-0 down to a 24- 21 lead .

Chandler, Stroud qualify for state

Chandler, Stroud qualify for state

Cheer squads from Chandler and Stroud qualified for the Game Day State Competition over the weekend at the regional competition at the 66 Coliseum in Stroud. Stroud, above, scored 394.4 and finished in a tie for 12th with Ketchum in Class 2A while Chandler, top, scored 394.

Lady Tigers score post-season fast-pitch awards

In addition to placing two players on the All-State team, Stroud put several players on the All-Conference, All-District and All-Region team. All-Region players were for the small east team were Jadyn Young, Emma Davis, Macey Morris and Skyla Baker. Lezli Robinson was named the All-Region coach.
