No decision on jail

Lincoln County commissioners this week continued to briefly discuss the proposed jail project but took no action on choosing a particular plan. County Clerk Alicia Wagnon reported that she learned ARPA funds can be used for the project as long as it doesn’t bring in federal prisoners.

Hearings set in chop shop

The pre-preliminary hearings for two of several defendants charged in an alleged chop shop operation have been scheduled for this month.

Suspended sentence in Wellston case

A Wellston man has pleaded guilty in Lincoln County District Court to felony and misdemeanor charges and drawn a 10year suspended prison term. A formal felony charge of domestic abuse by strangulation or attempted strangulation was filed in Lincoln County District Court on Oct.

Hearing continued in felonies with minors

A pre-preliminary hearing has been continued for an Agra man facing three felonies with minors. Kenneth Taylor Simpson, 21, was formally charged on Oct. 24 in Lincoln County District Court with lewd acts to a child under 16, sodomy of a child under 16 and second degree rape.

Sunday marked the beginning of a new year, 2023. In reflecting on what some New Year’s Days used to be like when I growing up, I began to think about some of those when I was a teenager. From the time I was around 13 or so, and we had a bird dog, dad and I spent a lot of them quail hunting.

Happy New Year to each of you from Town Talk volunteers. The new year is here and things in our community are back in full swing. School is back in session as of yesterday (Wednesday). Additional activities taking place this week are Hospital Development Authority at 7 a.m.
