Raymond Louis Pennock was born to William Pennock and Charolette Spooner on June 6, 1949, in Pawnee, Okla. He died Friday, January 14, 2022, at his home in Stroud. He was 72 years old. Raymond served in the United States Army and worked as an electrician until retirement.

Lisa Taylor was born April 28, 1967, in Dallas, Texas, and died Friday, January 14, 2022. She was 54 years old. Taylor started Bird Brains and Feathered Friends in Davenport. One of four children, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Chandler High School seniors Caroline McCalip and Jacob Ostrowski have been named January Lions of the Month by the Lion’s Club. Caroline McCalip, the daughter of Greg and Billie McCalip, maintains a 3.98 grade point average while taking four years of advanced placement in Honors English.

Construction is under way on sidewalk improvements running from Park Road Elementary School extending east. It’s on the south side of both bridges to match the bridge walk ways. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation awarded the bid during its Nov. 1 meeting for $477,932.

Charges file in roadblock crash

A driver faces two felony charges and a misdemeanor following a high speed pursuit that injured a Lincoln County deputy sheriff. Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court Jan. 5 against Lakrisha Kaylynn Dutton, 36.

Trial in cockfighting case

A jury trial for a Harrah man facing more than 80 charges for operating an illegal cockfighting operation has been scheduled for next month.

Hearing set in homicide

Pre-preliminary hearings have been scheduled for two men charged with murder in connection with the death of a former Midwest City Marine. Charges of accessory to after the fact to first degree murder against two men have been dismissed in Lincoln County but refiled in another county.

Commissioners name members to Fair Board

Lincoln County commissioners held a brief, special meeting recently to appoint Fair Board members from Districts 2 and 3. County Clerk Alicia Wagnon said District 2 Commissioner Marlon Miller appointed Wayne Rozell to a two-year term. “He will need to run for election in 2024,” she said.

Toma’s contract kept the same

The Chandler Board of Education in its most recent meeting took no action on modifying the terms of the contract of School Supt. Melody Toma. Toma explained she has a three-year contract and there was no need for any action. She advised the board members the district has received an $86,350.
