Stroud Regional changes hands

The Stroud Regional Medical Center has recently been acquired by Rural Wellness Stroud, Inc. The acquisition took effect Nov. 1. Dr. Elizabeth Pusey is founder and president of Rural Wellness Stroud that acquired the Stroud facility.

Meeker: New mayor, pay raises

The Meeker Town Board appointed a new mayor Monday night and members also approved raises and bonuses for all full time and part-time employees. The Board voted unanimously to appoint Vice Mayor Donna Weber as the new mayor. Weber has been acting mayor since Oct.

Davenport’s Bulldogs used a strong rushing attack and some clutch passing to nip Regent Prep 32-31 and capture the District title last Friday night. Undefeated on the season at 10-0, the Bulldogs host Yale Friday night in the first round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Bulldog stadium.

Stroud outfielder KayLyn Baker has been named to the Small School East All-State fastpitch team, headlining a list of Lady Tigers earning post-season awards. In addition to All-State honors, Baker was named to the 66 Conference all-conference team, All-District team and All-Region.

Stroud finished third in District A-7 will travel to Warner for the first round of the playoffs Friday night. The Tigers and Okemah had been tied for second place in the district, but Okemah won the showdown between the two teams last week, 24-8.

Shaun Allen Garcia of Meeker passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Shawnee, Okla., at the age of 42. Shaun was born on October 26, 1978 in Oklahoma City. He was the son of Linda and David Mason. Shaun was a 1997 graduate of Meeker High School.
