Increase in COVID cases

The number of people in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties testing positive for COVID-19 has jumped significantly, the Oklahoma State Department of Health says.

The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County jumped by 213 in the last week and in Lincoln County they increased by 103, according to numbers provided by the OSDH.

Lincoln County’s number on Tuesday was 563. A week ago it was 460. Two weeks ago it was 398 the OSDH said.

The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County as of Tuesday this week stood at 1,584.

Last Tuesday it was 1,371.

The county’s total two weeks ago was 1,234.

Between the two counties, the number of positive tests has jumped by 316 people in the last seven days.

Total number of people testing positive in the two counties now stands at 2,147.

A week ago that number stood at 1,831. Two weeks ago the number was 1,632.

Also as of Tuesday, there have been 20 reported deaths in the two counties, 10 in each of them.

Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is 1,682, according to OSDH figures.

In Pottawatomie County, 1,264 have recovered and 418 have recovered in Lincoln County.

Statewide as of Tuesday, 93,346 have tested positive, there have been 1,066 deaths and 79,219 who have recovered. Active cases stood at 13,061 the OSDH said.

Last week there were 86,219 testing positive, there had been 1,018 deaths and 71,957 had recovered.

There were 13,244 active cases a week ago.

About seven weeks ago, the number of positives statewide stood at 44,728. The statewide number of deaths at that same time attributed to the virus stood at 618.

On Tuesday of this week, the OSDH reported more than 1,300 new positive cases confirmed and 11 additional deaths.

The OSDH reports 1,186,715 have tested negative.
