Laureate Beta Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority met for business meetings and socials over the last month.
President Pam Hunt, presided over the business portion of the meetings and those celebrating birthdays or anniversaries were recognized.
Spring activities were begun, including a fundraiser selling geraniums with profits designated for service projects which include donations to the American Legion Auxiliary Girl’s State Program.
This year four young women who will be seniors next year at Stroud High School, were selected to attend the June event as delegates. Girl’s State, a nationwide program sponsored by each state’s Auxiliary chapters, is several days spent on a college campus learning how the government works with delegates establishing cities and running for local, state and national offices.
The Stroud auxiliary has sponsored the program for many years with Beta members supporting it through donations for delegate fees.
Meeting hostesses were Linda Waller and Mary Jackson. Linda Waller presented an interesting program on the downtown Tulsa tunnels, which she recently toured and explained the history behind the tunnels built in the 1930’sand showedpictures of how they look today with an art deco design and marble walls.
Jackson’s program was “The Wearing of the Green”, a history of St. Patrick and the March celebration when “everyone is Irish for the day.” The hostesses served a light supper to members. Those attending were Pam Hunt, Sandra Jones, Chris Hodge, Michelle Doherty, Pam Clement, Darlene Lau, Cindy Mason, Sue Helms, Rachel Shields, Kim Johnson, Linda Waller and Mary Jackson.
