Fatality wreck kills two in McLoud

A three-vehicle collision north of McLoud Monday morning left two people dead and injured a third, the Oklahoma Patrol reported.

OHP Capt. Brian Orr, who investigated the fatal collision, identified the two people killed as Stephan Ely, 24, of Geary, and Patricia Hernandez, 36, of Oklahoma City.

Ely and Hernandez were drivers of two of the cars involved.

Each expired at the scene due to their injuries, the OHP captain said.

Mindy Miller, 47, of Luther, who was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Ely, also was injured.

Orr reported she was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by REACT and admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.

Orr said the collision occurred about 8:23 a.m. on SH 102, one-half mile north of Hazel Dell Road, one mile north of McLoud in Pottawatomie 102, one-half mile north of Hazel Dell Road, one mile north of McLoud in Pottawatomie County.

He reported Ely was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer southbound on SH 102 when it traveled left of center, striking a 2014 Ford F150, driven by Brian Gilliam, 58, of Wellston on the driver side rear fender.

The Explorer then over corrected to the right, leaving the roadway, then reentered the roadway and overturned 1/2 time, entering the northbound lanes of SH 102. the northbound lanes of SH 102.

Orr said a 2008 GMC Yukon driven by Hernandez was northbound and then struck the Explorer on its driver side, trapping Hernandez for approximately two hours.
