The Helping Hands Community Foundation delivered three food pantries in Lincoln County earlier this week.

Those food pantries were delivered in Carney, Meeker and Davenport last week.

In Carney, the food pantry was placed outside the Dorthy M. Smith Family Medical Center.

Case Manager Kelly George reached out to Helping Hands to see if a food pantry could be placed outside the clinic.

Program Manager Obzynder Robinson said there is a need in the community and people where asking for help.

In Meeker, the food pantry was placed outside Kristen Ludi’s Shelter Insurance office.

Ludi said these food pantries are a wonderful idea and wanted to participate to give people easier access to needed supplies.

In Davenport, the food pantry was placed outside the Church of Nazarene’s Clothing Closet on the southwest corner of Second and Broadway.

Anthony Diaz donated time, labor and materials to build the food pantries, except for the plexiglass. Scott Dial delivered the food pantries.

Co-Founder Sabra Denson said some of the most popular items that are stocked include canned goods and meats, pasta and toiletries.

The motto of Helping Hands is, “We help the hungry, hurting and helpless.”

Which is what the food pantry strives to do.

Denson said their goal is to have a food pantry in every town in Lincoln County.

Currently, there is a food pantry in Stroud and Chandler.

Towns left on the list to receive a food pantry include Agra, Wellston, Prague, Tryon and Sparks.

The food pantries are stocked by the community with the idea to “Leave what you can, take what you need.”
