Lincoln County Sheriff deputies arrested a Wellston area man on two felonies following a domestic incident last month.
Formal charges of kidnapping and possession of a firearm after former felony conviction were filed June 2 in Lincoln County District Court against Shaine Richard Newlon, 44. On a probable cause affidavit, Newlon’s address is listed as 980436 1/2 OakMeadow Road, Wellston.
That is the address where Newlon was arrested on May 21 this year.
The information filed by the District Attorney’s office lists an address in Meeker as Newlon’s residence.
Special Judge Emily Mueller set a $5,000 bond for Newlon who made his initial appearance on June 3. That appearance was continued until 1:30 p.m., July 22.
The kidnapping count accuses Newlon of holding Amanda Newlon against her will on May 21, 2021 in Lincoln Co.
The possession of firearm after former felony conviction charges Newlon with possessing a Remington shotgun on that same date in Lincoln County after having been convicted of felony child endangerment in Oklahoma County in 2011.
Prosecutors filed supplementation in the case showing Newlon had been convicted of felony child endangerment on Jan. 13, 2011 and he was sentenced to five years in prison.
That information showed, too, Newlon was convicted on May 27, 2015 in Lincoln County of Domestic Abuse, a misdemeanor and he was handed a one-year suspended sentence.
The probable cause affidavit filed by Lincoln County Sergeant Larry Stover, Jr., states shortly after 10 p.m. on May 21 he was dispatched to 960515 S. Highway 102 in reference to a domestic not in progress. He said the call came from Erick McClure, a firefighter at the Southwest Fire Station in Lincoln County.
McClure reportedly advised Lincoln County Comm. Center that another firefighter, Amanda Newlon, came to the station crying and saying she was wanting to report a domestic.
Stover states in the affidavit that when he arrived and made contact with Amanda she was still trying to calm down. He said she had redness on both of her arms, she was complaining of a scratch on her right arm that was small and new.
She explained to Stover that her husband Shaine Newlon was at their house and when she got home from work around 9 p.m. that evening she saw their property had been moved out of the house because Shaine told her that he had to move it out to protect the family.
She further advised Stover that she told Shaine she could not do this anymore and tried to leave the house, but he pushed her down and blocked the doors not allowing her to leave the house. She finally made it out of a window and he reportedly also then jumped out of the window and stopped her from getting in her truck. He allegedly jumped on her and took both of her phones and went back into the house.
She told Stover she ran back to the truck to escape Shaine and went to the Southwest Fire Station to get safe.
Stover asked her about Shaine having any firearms at the house and she advised they had firearms under their bed.
When asked by Stover about Shaine’s possible drug use, she told the deputy, “He uses whatever he can get his hands on.”
She gave officers permission to enter the residence to see if the house was safe for her return, thinking he had run off.
Stover asked Deputies Christopher Hyde and Kevin Chapman to go to the residence. They made contact with Shaine and placed him in custody, transporting him to the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler.
He was booked on Kidnapping, Domestic Assault and Battery and Possession of Firearm after felony conviction.
