1. Update on Lincoln County Special Election July 13
A. Please do all your fact finding about this election for building a new larger Lincoln County Jail. Our attorneys at OKC have advised Meeker and the small surrounding Towns around Chandler to put a lot of thought into this election. If this is passed all the smaller Towns would have had a hard time to get our residents to pass another penny or any amount on top of the tax increase for the jail.
Meeker’s and other towns needs in the future could be put on hold. Do all the smaller Towns surrounding Chandler want to risk improvements to their Town for possibly 30 years? Are there more options? Can Department of Justice release individuals that have already been to court? We all realize the want and need for a new facility.
Please get out and vote on July 13 on Proposition No. 2.
2. Update on Fireworks Display
B. Please attend July 8th Chamber of Commerce meeting held at the First Baptist Church at 11:30 AM. Discussion will be about a possible reschedule of the Fireworks Display. Bring your ideas. Also enjoy the great food for lunch.
3. Update on Grants
A. It was sure nice to get the “Big” check for $1,635,000 dollars to start the sewer and manhole replacements.
B. Other grants have been applied for, to help with this project and other projects.
4. Update on Streets and Alleys
A. We still have cold patch to put in potholes that the rain washed out.
B. Several streets have had large rock placed in wash outs and around tin horns.
C. Several alleys have had rock added as needed.
5. Update on Cemetery
A. Additional dirt and mowing has been done on the Southwest corner.
6. Update on Parks
A. Additional signs have been placed on the wooden tabletops asking you to please lower the umbrellas when you get done using them. We don’t want the storms to damage them. Enjoy the shade that they produce during our hot summer months. Also enjoy the L.E.D. lights under the umbrella for your nightly pleasure. All these things are expensive, so please help us take care of everything at the park.
7. Update on Lake
A. Lake is over full.
B. Please be safe.
C. Boat dock walkway is under water.
D. All grounds are very wet. Please stay off grass.
8. Update on PWA
A. Love seeing these grants coming in.
B. All water and sewer facilities are barely maintaining throughout all these torrential rains.
C. Remember these rains and cool weather because August is right around the corner.
