The number of new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties has risen by triple digits since the last report, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
Two new deaths also have been reported, one in each county, according to the OSDH.
The OSDH has begun reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from
Aug. 4 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, Aug. 10.
There have been 133 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.
Lincoln County has 74 reported deaths. The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 192 and in Lincoln County they increased by 90, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 282 from the most recent report by the OSDH. The previous report had that number increasing by only 216.
Lincoln County’s latest number is 3,509. It was 3,419 at the last report.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 8,871. Last report it was 8,679.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 12,380.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 11,805, the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 8,498 have recovered and 3,307 have recovered in Lincoln County.
The OSDH reported as of Aug. 4 statewide, 486,232 people have tested positive, compared to 474,845 at the last report. There have been 7,531 Oklahoma deaths, last week’s reporting showed 7,485. And active cases stand at 15,540. Last report they were 9,886.
