The number of new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties rose by more than 500 and there have been five new deaths, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
Four of the deaths have occurred in Pottawatomie County and one new death has been recorded in Lincoln County, according to the OSDH.
The OSDH has begun reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from Sep. 1 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, Sep. 7.
There have been 138 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19, up four from the last report.
Lincoln County now has 80 reported deaths, up one from last week.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 384 and in Lincoln County they increased by 185, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 569 from the most recent report by the OSDH.
The previous report had that number increasing by 340.
Lincoln County’s latest number is 4,067. It was 3,882 at the last report.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 9,899.
Last report it was 9,515.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 13,966.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 13,008, up by 390 the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 9,264 have recovered and 3,744 have recovered in Lincoln County.
The OSDH reported as of Sep. 1 statewide, 550,239 people have tested positive, compared to 530,594 at the last report. There have been Oklahoma 8,001 provisional deaths, last week’s reporting showed 7,812. And active cases stand at 26,640. Last report they were 23,492.
The OSDH has stopped reporting total number of recovered statewide.
