Guilty plea in trafficking

One man has recently pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and another felony charge and a woman has waived her right to a preliminary hearing and an arraignment has been set.

Ian Wade Tramel, 39, Shawnee, was charged on April 1 with conjointly trafficking illegal drugs by possessing 164 grams of methamphetamine with Joel Paul Schofield, 41, of Chandler, and Candi L. Dickson, 41, in Lincoln County.

According to court records, Tramel, on the state’s recommendation as a result of a plea bargain agreement, pleaded guilty to that charge and with distribution of CDS, including possession with intent to distribute, by possessing approximately 30 grams of heroin, conjointly, with Tramel and Dickson with the intention of distributing the same on April 1 in Lincoln County.

Both the state and the defendant waived a presentence investigation.

District Judge Cindy Ashwood found Tramel guilty and on count 1 sentenced him to five years in the Department of Corrections. She also assessed a $100 fine, $100 VCA and court costs.

On Count 2, Judge Ashwood sentenced Tramel to five years in prison, a $100 fine, $100 VCA and court costs. She ordered the sentences to run concurrently with each other and that he be given credit for time served.

Dickson on Aug. 13, before Special Judge Emily Mueller, Dickson waived her right to a preliminary hearing. The judge scheduled her arraignment for 9:30 a.m. Sep. 7.

Earlier this summer, District Ashwood sentenced Schofield, 41, of Chandler, to sixyear terms in the custody of the Department of Corrections on each of the two charges. He also was ordered to pay $100 fines on each of the charges and $100 VCA and court costs.
