Trial dates set for Harrah pair

Jury trial dates have been scheduled for next week for a Harrah pair charged earlier this year with with multiple child sexual abuse crimes.

Jeremy C. Barnes, Sr., 36 and Amanda D. Bond-Langston, 32, each face six counts of child sexual abuse and one count each of child neglect.

District Judge Cindy Ashwood has scheduled a jury trial for Bond-Langston at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 18. The judge set her for the jury trial call docket at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15.

The judge has scheduled a jury trial for Barnes at the same time and date and for the jury trial call docket at the same time and date.

In March, Barnes waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk, during Barnes’ arraignment in April, scheduled the cause for the felony disposition docket at 9:30 a.m. on May 18 and a jury trial was originally set for 9 a.m. on June 7.

On May 18, Judge Ashwood the set case for further disposition at 1:30 p.m. May 25.

The defendant on May 25, before Judge Ashwood, waived his right to a speedy trial, court records show.

Special Judge Emily Mueller held a pre-preliminary hearing for Bond-Langston on April 8. At that time, she and prosecutors waived her right to a preliminary hearing.

Judge Mueller set an arraignment for 1:30 p.m. on April 27. During her arraignment, the judge set Bond-Langston for the felony disposition docket at 9:30 a.m. on May 18 and a jury trial for 9 a.m. on June 7.

Court records show that on May 18, Judge Ashwood set the case for further disposition on May 25.

On May 25, Bond-Langston waived her right to a speedy trial.

The formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court against the pair on Jan. 21 following their arrest on Thursday, Jan. 7 this year, at 2121 E. 1st Street in Chandler in Lincoln County.

Prosecutors claim the alleged multiple sex crimes the two are charged with occurred between Jan. 1, 2016 and Jan. 7, 2021.

It’s stated in the affidavit filed by Weygand that Bond-Langston and Barnes had sex multiple times in front of children. One of the kids interviewed by a forensic interviewer related that the couple knew they were being seen, and would leave the door open with their minor children in the house.
