The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties increased by 22 compared to three weeks ago, but the new positive cases rose less than 300, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
Sixteen of the deaths occurred in Pottawatomie County, according to the OSDH. There were six new deaths attributed to the virus in Lincoln County.
The OSDH has begun reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from Oct. 20 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, Oct. 26.
There now have been 189 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.
Lincoln County has 107 reported deaths.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 213 and in Lincoln County they increased by 70, ac cording to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 283, the most recent report by the OSDH stated. The previous report had that number increasing by 755.
Lincoln County’s latest number is 4,839. It was 4,769 at the last report.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 12,022. Last report it was 11,809.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 16,861.
Total number of people who have recov ered in the two counties is now 16,152, the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 11,530 have recovered and 4,622 have recovered in Lincoln County.
The OSDH reported as of Oct. 20 statewide, 635,447 people have tested positive, compared to 627,699 at the last report. There have been 10,540 Oklahoma provisional deaths, last week’s report showed 9,402.
And active cases stand at 9,714. Last report they were 11.905.
The OSDH has stopped reporting total number of recovered statewide.
