Joleta (JoJo) Ann Mashburn, age 65, departed this life on Saturday, November 13, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Joleta was born September 28, 1956 to Jacquita Ann (Petty) and James Francis Avey in Santa Ana, Calif. Joleta’s family moved from Santa Ana to Oklahoma in 1970. She was a graduate of Depew High School. After high school she was married to Charles Mashburn Sr. of Stroud, Okla. They shared 25 years of marriage until Charles passed in 1999. She had a variety of jobs such as working in factories, and then for years at the Stroud coffee shop and the laundry mat. Joleta will always be remembered for her jokes and ornery demeanor. Some of Joleta’s favorite things to do were cooking, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Her family was her biggest joy, memories she made with them will live on in the hearts of her loved ones as the best mom, grandma, and sister.
Joleta is preceded in death by her husband Charles Mashburn Sr., parents James and Jacquita Avey, sister Lorletta Nance, brother Jerry Nance and nephews Jeffrey Avey and Jerry Avey.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children: son Charles Mashburn II and wife Billie Stump, daughter Shannan Ann Mashburn-Stevens and husband Richard, son James Mashburn, three granddaughters: Azia N’Sanman and husband Christian, Roni Graves and Kenadi Mashburn, two grandsons: Jakob Thomas, Charles Mashburn III, four great grandchildren: Adrian, Camden, Julian and Gabriel, brother Jeff Avey and wife Debbie, sister Jayelene Garton, along with nieces, nephews and many other extended family members.
A memorial service to honor the life of Joleta will be held 11 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Stroud with Bruce Hartley officiating. Online condolences can be made at www.parksbrothers.net. Care Services provided by Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
