Huffman named Assistant VP

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas named Kim Huffman Assistant Vice President of Patient Financial and Access Services effective September 13.

Huffman is a 1980 graduate of Stroud High School and a 1989 graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma.

She began her career in healthcare at Mercy Hospital OKC in 1990 and subsequently worked in health systems in Oklahoma, Chicago and Texas.

Huffman began her career at UT Southwestern in October of 2017 as Director of Patient Access Services responsible for a staff of 150 and her scope of work has expanded over four years to now encompass a department of 400 providing diagnostic scheduling, pre-registration, insurance verification and authorization, financial advising, estimates, and point-of-care registration and admitting for patients of the University Hospitals, Emergency Department, Outpatient Surgery Center, all Diagnostic Lab and Imaging locations and numerous ambulatory clinics on UTSW’s main campus and at locations across the greater Dallas/ Ft. Worth metropolitan area.

Huffman’s team serves more than 105,000 hospitalized patients, 370,000 emergency room patients and 3 million outpatients a year. Her team is the 2020 Large Health System Winner of the National Association of Healthcare Access Management’s Best in Keys Award and Huffman herself is the 2021 Recipient of NAHAM’s Marian Blankenship Award which annually recognizes 1 individual nationwide for outstanding personal contribution to the field of patient access. Huffman and her husband, Greg, spend their time between their homes in north Texas and Chandler, where Greg is employed by Lincoln County Farm Center.
