A Stroud man who was awaiting a preliminary hearing on two charges of assault and battery on a police officer faces a new felony count and two misdemeanors.
A new felony count of driving while under the influence of alcohol and another intoxicating substance, second and subsequent offense, was formally filed Nov. 16 in Lincoln County District Court against Steven Eugene Laffoon, 52.
He also was charged with two misdemeanors of driving while license is revoked and possession of marijuana.
Supplemental information filed in the case shows Laffoon on Dec. 3, 2018 was also convicted in Lincoln County District Court of actual physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Laffoon was charged on Aug. 11 of this year of assaulting Stroud Police Chief Clint Gaylord and Stroud Officer Charles Mash as they were attempting to arrest him while responding to a call.
On Thursday, Nov. 18, before Special Judge Emily Mueller, he waived his right to a preliminary hearing. She scheduled his arraignment for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
The newest felony accuses Laffoon of driving on Nov. 1 on Allied Road in the city of Stroud while under the combined influence of alcohol and marijuana or some other intoxicating substance.
Count 2, a misdemeanor, charges him with driving his car on the same date, road and in the same county while his license was revoked.
Count 3 accuses him of possession of marijuana while driving his car on Allied Road Nov. 1.
His bond has been set at $5,000 on the newest charges and his initial appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 2.
