Sammy D. Murphy of Dover, Ohio, was born to Samuel H. and Opal (Hopkins) Murphy on April 10, 1938, in Stroud. He died Saturday, January 29, 2022, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, at the age of 83 years.
Sammy retired as a driller in the oil industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gloria J. Murphy.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Shawn and Loretta Murphy and Shannon Murphy, all of Fresno, Ohio; his stepdaughter Barb Simek and her husband Brian of Ashtabula, Ohio; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
Cremation has been carried out according to his wishes through the care of Geib Funeral Center in Dover. There will be no public services.
