Arthur Nilson Johnson

Arthur Nilson Johnson, 90, passed away on April 15, 2022, in Chandler, Okla.

Art was born on March 25, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Gilbert L. and Elsie M. (Nilson) Johnson. He was the middle child of Gilbert and Elsie’s three children. Art graduated from Britton High School in 1950. After high school, he served our country, in the United States Army, from 1951-1954. He was a Korean War Veteran. In 1979, the Johnson family moved from Oklahoma City to Chandler.

In his early years, Art worked as a Glazier, making windows. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, making model cars, and other hand carvings, and acrylic painting. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time at the Chandler Senior Citizen’s Center.

Art was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Chandler.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Elsie Johnson, and a sister, Dorothy Hansard.

He is survived by a sister, Janet Robbins and her husband, James; a nephew, Joe Hansard; three nieces, Jamie Herring and her husband, Ray, Brenda Bernhardt, and Tara Parks; his great-nephews, Cole Bernhardt, Shane Hansard, Trey Parks, and Chris Herring; great-nieces, Kate Hamstra, and Jessica Herring; two great-great nieces, Emersyn Herring, and Willow Hamstra, and a great-great nephew, Oliver Hamstra; as well as host of other family members and friends.

Graveside services for Art will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Condolences can be expressed at www.parksbrothers.net. In lieu of flowers, Art’s family request donations made to the Chandler Senior Citizen’s Center, 1121 North Highway 18 Chandler, Ok, 74834. Services are in the care of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
