A Carney school teacher and softball coach, who was put on administrative leave, has resigned and a petition for a protective order has been filed against him.
The petition seeking the protective order was filed April 29 against Ricky Evans by Ashley Nicole Swindel after text messages were discovered between Evans and a girl 16 years old.
The petition alleges the incident occurred in April of this year.
The petition seeks to protect the 16-year-old girl.
Court records show that Special Judge Emily Mueller has scheduled a protective order hearing for 9 a.m. today, May 12, on the matter.
Carney School Supt. Brian Keith confirmed Evans was an employee of the district, teaching Middle School Science and coaching softball.
“He has been on administrative leave since April 19 and he has resigned effective May 13,” Keith stated.
