Town Talk

Thank you to Ken and Celeste and Carpenter for picking up flags from the cemetery. Stopping to help them were Shannon and Stephanie Williams and three of their children, Tanner, Kayden and Hadley. They picked them up on Saturday before the big rain Sunday. It was a blessing to have them gathered before the rain came in, so they get a big Town Talk shout-out.

It’s fantastic that Stroud has two garden centers in town. Unique OK helped us with the downtown flowerpots and Patton’s Produce donated the flowers, potting soil, and mulch for the mini-golf course. As I always say, Town Talk could not accomplish what we do without all the donations both monetarily and in-kind from our many supporters; all people wanting to help make Stroud the best community it can be. We would like to purchase a couple of picnic tables and umbrellas for the mini-golf course. If anyone is interested in making a donation of a picnic table/umbrella or purchasing one please contact me at 918-527-9833.

If you haven’t visited the miniature golf course yet you should stop by and take a look. Elbert and Sharla Wells made obstacles for holes one, two, three and five which consists of a railroad crossing, Chicago’s Navy Pier ferris wheel, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and Oklahoma’s blue whale. Town Talk purchased the obstacles for holes four, six and eight which are Kansas sunflowers, Texas armadillos and Arizona’s cactuses. Julie Bivin and Andrea Thompson made our hot-air balloons for New Mexico’s hole seven. John Owens with help from Julie Bivin put together the obstacle for hole nine which is the “end of the trail” in Santa Monica, California. The sign was made by Debbie Acord. John also built the oil well in the middle of the course. David Evans designed and built the clubhouse. Josh Jones of 99 Electric, Inc. and Charles Palmer donated their services to wire the building for electricity. Heather Black of Welcome Home donated Route 66 signs. It has definitely been a team project. This is not a complete list of volunteers, but I have mentioned many of the others in prior articles as we have been working on this project for about 13 months. Collectively, everyone is pleased with the result of our labor of love for our community. We hope you will come out and enjoy the course with us. We have Putt Putt t-shirts for sale in the club house. You do not have to pre-order them. They are in-stock and ready for purchase.
