On Friday, Aug. 5th, 2022, Sharon Kaye Hulsey, devoted wife and loving grandma, passed away at the age of 75.
Sharon was born on Nov. 11th, 1946, in Stockton, Calif. to Ridley and Bessie (Anderson) Sage. She began her education walking to school with her brother and two sisters to the Morning Star School near the family farm in Lincoln County and graduated from Chandler High School with the class of 1965. Sharon worked for Howard Johnson’s in Chandler for a few years before beginning her job at Deiner Mills Sewing Factory in 1966. She cherished the friends and memories she made while working there. She stayed home for a few years raising their kids, then went to work for Housing and Urban Development for Chandler and Agra. She flourished in this position for over 10 years as she worked with contractors to build new homes or remodeling homes for low-income families. In 1980, Sharon and Joe chose to become Foster Parents for DHS. For 33 years they welcomed children into their homes giving them love, comfort, compassion…all the priceless ingredients to make a family.
On June 11th,1965, Sharon married her forever sweetheart Joseph Hulsey in Gainesville, Texas. As Lincoln County residents their entire lives, they raised their four children in Chandler, Sherri, Justin, Darren, and Jeffery. She attended church her whole life and was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church in Wellston. That church was her happy place.
She will be remembered by everyone for her incredible joy for life and love for everyone she met. Her unforgettable acts of kindness touched so many. She was passionate about Jesus, her family and friends. She was ever so proud of her Choctaw heritage. She truly never met a stranger. Sharon had a heart of gold that was full of compassion for others. Sharon left a legacy of love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved sisters Cloeta and Sharlene, her precious brother Derrell, and her great-granddaughter Lyndy Kay.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Joe; her four children Sherri Johnson and George; Justin Hulsey and Shelly; Darren Hulsey and Kari; Jeffery Hulsey and Andrea. Her pride and joy in life were her eight grandchildren: Sage, Sheridan, Aaron, Hunter, Grace, Georgia, Samuel and Penelope.
The funeral service will be held at First Assembly of God Church in Wellston on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at 10:00 am. Followed by the burial service at Oak Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler on Thursday 5-8pm and Friday 9am-8pm. Condolences can be expressed at www.parksbrothers.net.
