Voters in Lincoln County elected a new District 1 County commissioner and helped choose a new district judge and a new state senator in Tuesday’s General Election.
They also elected a new member of the Board of Directors for Lincoln County Southwest Fire District.
Republican Will Fine won the District 1 County Commissioner contest. He defeated Democrat Earl Glenn by amassing 2,761 votes to Glenn’s 616. Fine received 81.76 percent of the vote to Glenn’s 18.24 percent.
Fine captures a four-year term and is taking the position held by Commissioner Carl Munson the past four years.
Munson is retiring at the end of his term in December.
The race for District Judge Office No. 1 in the 23rd Judicial District was between Traci L. Soderstrom and Joe Dobry. Soderstrom won the contest and takes the seat now held by District Judge Cindy Ashwood who is retiring after serving 12 years on the bench.
Soderstrom won the contest with 15,889 votes to 12,401 for Dobry.
Republican Grant Greenwon the District 28 State Senate contest over Democrat Karen Rackley. Green takes the seat held by State Sen. Zack Taylor who decided to not seek re-election. With one precinct still out, Green led with 19,351 votes to 5,971 for Rackley.
Voters in Lincoln County Southwest Fire District chose a member for the Board of Directors between Royce Ramey, Erick McClure and Chandra Welt. They elected McClure who received 397 votes to 347 for Welt and 227 for Ramey.
Voters throughout Pottawatomie County also helped decide the race for the new judge and some were able to vote in the Senate District 28 contest.
In Pottawatomie County, District 26 Republican State Rep. Dell Kerbs won re-election defeating Democrat challenger Gregory Hardin. Kerbs received 7,002 votes to Hardin’s 3,367.
