Town Talk

Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday night to help the American Legion Auxiliary and Town Talk honor our veterans and current military.

Thank you, also, to BancFirst, First Bank & Trust and RCB Bank for generously supporting this event. We received great reviews on the evening. We appreciate the support of those who couldn’t attend but bought tickets and those who made donations.

Those attending did say they wish more of the community would attend these events and I have to agree. Local events are a great time to come together and not only support a cause but reconnect with friends whom you don’t get to visit with on a regular basis.

All in all, it was a great evening and a time to say thank you to those who have fought and are fighting for the freedoms we enjoy today.

My friend, Delores Peltier just came home from the hospital last Thursday after suffering a stroke and spending some time in the hospital. My mom spoke with Delores’ daughter, Kathy Caraveau and she said she took her mom to church on Sunday and to vote on Tuesday.

Delores is 97 years of age and just recently suffered a stroke but managed to make it to church and to the polls. She is a strong woman and a true American. Glad you are on the mend, Delores, and welcome home.

My mom, husband, and I just returned from a quick trip to Alexandria, Indiana to help my mom’s sixth great-grandchild who is also my great-nephew celebrate his first birthday. My nephew Casey’s son, Stetson, turned one this week and we met his grandmother, Lisa Smalley, in Indiana for the big celebration. The party’s theme was Stetson’s First World Tour and had rock ‘n roll themed decorations.

As you know, my brother Gary passed away in February from COVID. This was his first grandchild and he had so looked forward to his birth. It was a quick trip, and we didn’t want to miss the party, but we felt it was important to be there to represent Gary. We continue to miss him every day but keep his memory alive and share stories. Believe me, Gary gave us enough stories to share for a lifetime!
