No decision on jail

Commissioners:

Lincoln County commissioners this week continued to briefly discuss the proposed jail project but took no action on choosing a particular plan.

County Clerk Alicia Wagnon reported that she learned ARPA funds can be used for the project as long as it doesn’t bring in federal prisoners.

Sheriff Charlie Dougherty said during the meeting that options B and C would fill the need, but added, “I’m not happy with either one.”

District 3 Commissioner and Commission Chairman Lee Doolen said, “We’re not ready to make a decision on this yet.”

After spending a little over an hour in executive session and returning to open meeting, commissioners took no action concerning potential litigation of a worker’s comp case and took no action on contract employment of a grant writer.

At the beginning of the meeting, Doolen was reappointed chairman for another year and District 2 Commissioner Marlin Miller was appointed vice chairman.

Newly elected District 1 Commissioner Will Fine took his seat on the board Tuesday morning.

Commissioners adopted a Fair Board resolution accepting the filing period and setting the date and time for the election of board members to the Lincoln County Fair Board.

Wagnon explained the filing period is Jan. 23-27 and election will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 16 in the lobby of the courthouse.

Commissioners approved a $10,000 donation to the Sheriff’s Office.

They also approved a new Access Control System for the Courthouse.

They took no action on location of courthouse security.

In other business, commissioners: Approved an ODOT form for a bridge over Salt Creek in District 1.

Approved resolutions to dispose of Equipment in District No. 2.

Appointed retired District 1 Commissioner Carl Munson to the Project Heart Board.

Reappointed District 2 Commissioner Marlin Miller as non-voting member to the 911 Trust Authority.

Reappointed Doolen to the Community Action Agency Board.

Adopted a resolution authorizing Emergency ManagementtoapplyforaGISData cleanup grant from the state of Oklahoma.
