Chandler High School has announced its valedictorians and salutatorian for the Class of 2023.
The valedictorians are Emma Cummings, Sadie Sherman, Ahna Smith, Ethan Stone, Laryssa Nunn, Claire Irby, Brittany Robbins and Shayla Robbins. The salutatorian is Chace Massie.
Emma Cummings
Emma Cummings is the daughter of Christon and Rafe Cummings. She has attended Chandler Public Schools since Pre-K.
She is involved in Future Farmers of America, Academic Team, Postponing Sexual Involvement, Positive Peers, Chandler Varsity Pom, Student Council, Gifted and Talented and BancFirst Student Board of Directors.
Her awards and honors include National Honor Society, class secretary, Superintendent’s Honor Roll, National Honor Society Secretary, FFA Secretary, January Lion of the Month, January Rotarian of the Month and Pom Academic State Champ.
Cummings is a member of the Chandler Friends church and a volunteer at the God and People’s Food Pantry. She has also volunteered at Chandler Recycles and the Museum of Pioneer History.
Her future plans are to attend Friends University to major in English.
Sadie Sherman
Sadie Sherman is the daughter of Bobby and Angie Sherman. She has attended Chandler Public Schools since Pre-K.
Throughout her high school years Sadie has been involved in FFA, Positive Peers, Student Council, National Honor Society, Postponing Sexual Involvement, Gifted and Talented, Pom Manager, Yearbook, and Youth Action for Health Leadership. She is also Senior Class President, National Honor Society President and FFA Vice President.
Her awards and honors include Superintendent’s Honor Roll, Oklahoma Honor Society, Oklahoma FFA State Vet Science Team, Jazz and Hip Hop Pom State Champions, National FFA Silver Placing Team and Individual, January Lion of the Month and February Rotarian.
Sherman volunteers with God and People’s Food Pantry, Coffee with Heroes, Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Relay For Life, Meals on Wheels, Walk for Warriors, museum cleanup, crawfish boil, Chandler Recycles, stamp Out Starvation, Angel Tree, county fairgrounds cleanup and more.
She plans to attend Oklahoma Christian in the fall and major in nursing and minor in youth ministry and missions. She eventually wants to become a pediatric oncology nurse and work at St. Jude.
Ahna Smith
Ahna Smith is the daughter of Brian and Shannon Smith. She has attended Chandler Public Schools since Pre-K.
She is involved in Pom, Positive Peers, Postponing Sexual Involvement, Student Council, Banc-First Student Board of Directors and Youth Action for Leadership.
Her awards and honors include National Honor Society, Superintendent’s Chandler High School recently announced that the Lions of the Month are Grace Thompson and Ethan Stone.
Grace Thompson is the daughter of Brian and Shawna Thompson. After graduating from high school she intends to go straight towards the real estate field where she will work as an intern until she gains her real estate license.
After passing her real estate exam she will seek employment with an experienced broker and learn everything she can. Her ultimate goal is to become a broker, run a successful real estate business and own investment properties.
While at Chandler High School Grace maintains a 3.91 GPA and takes an AP English course. She has been named to the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for three years and has been named All-American cheer for two years. She has also attended the Academic Banquet for two years.
She is involved in Cheer, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Postponing Sexual Involvement, Positive Peers, Stagecraft, Yearbook and Choir. She also serves as the Varsity Cheer Captain. Her certifications include CPR/ AED Red Cross, First Aid and Certified Life Guard.
Her community involvement includes Relay for Life, Crawfish Boil, Ice Cream Festival, Halloween Festival, Food Bank, Stomp Out Starvation and Life Kids Leader.
Ethan Stone plans to further expand upon his FFA SAEs while finishing his high school education. Upon graduation his career plan is to attend Oklahoma State University and major in Agricultural Engineering.
He is a part of the FFA Veterinary Science Team, FFA Environmental and Natural Resources Team, Chandler Archery Team, Chandler Academic Team and National Honors Society. He is also a FFA Agriscience Fair presenter, FFA Extemporaneous Speech speaker and a 4-H Sheep showman. Additionally Ethan has a 4-H Food Science project and a 4-H Leadership project. Ethan has received the FFA State Discovery Degree and the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. He has placed at numerous state FFA contests.
Ethan is a member of the Oklahoma Pecan Growers Association, the Oklahoma Junior Cattleman’s Association, the American Hampshire Association and the American Rabbit Breeder’s Association. He is also certified in tractor safety and Beef Quality Assurance.
