Robert Wood and Colton Burbach have been selected as Rotarians of the Month for November.
Robert Wood is the son of Geoffrey Wood, Linda Rivera and Eliza Rivera. He has 10 siblings.
He plans to attend Oklahoma State University after graduation and get a bachelor’s in aerospace engineering and a master’s in mechanical engineering. Wood hopes to work with an engineering company that is geared toward mechanical and aerospace engineering. He also wishes to travel often to learn more about engineering around the world.
Wood has maintained a 3.95 GPA throughout high school and is currently enrolled in concurrent Calculus and AP English IV. He has received several awards and honors.
He is a member of Business Professionals of America (BPA), National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, BancFirst Student Board of Directors, Gordon Cooper Student Council, Gifted and Talented, Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project and First Robotics Competition. Wood is BPA secretary, treasurer for Gordon Cooper Student Council, city representative for Boys State and a senior member of FRC.
He has been part of several leadership opportunities such as Boys State, BPA Leadership Workshops, FRC Leadership Workshops and BPA Fall Leadership Conference.
Wood has volunteered in programs such as Chain of Love, Walk for the Special Olympics, Veteran Day programs, the annual haunted house at the Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History, the Special Olympics in Stillwater, American Legion markets, the American Legion Christmas Float and several other opportunities.
Colton Burbach is a senior at Chandler High School and in his second year of the computer networking technology program at Gordon Cooper Technology Center.
He plans to attend Rose State College, majoring in cyber security with a minor in vocal music, after he graduates.
Burbach is an active member of the Business Professionals of America and co-captain of his team, The Terrorbytes, in the CyberPatriot program at Gordon Copper. At Chandler High School, he has been involved in both archery and Music Makers. He played the role of Lurch in the CHS Drama Department’s “Addam’s Family Musical.”
Burbach is an All-State vocalist who has repeatedly scored “Superior” ratings at the OSSAA State Music Contest. He has been selected all four years of high school for the ECOCDA Honor Choir. He has also auditioned and was selected for the Oklahoma Arts Institute Chorus at Quartz Mountain.
