Agra man pleads to 14 felonies

An Agra man has pleaded guilty to 14 felonies with minors and has been sentenced to state prison.

Kenneth Taylor Simpson, 21, originally was charged on Oct. 24, 2022 in Lincoln County District Court with lewd acts to a child under 16, forcible sodomy of a child under 16 and second degree rape.

On May 17, 2023, the District Attorney’s Office filled an additional six felonies against Simpson. On May 19, the DA’s office filed five more felony charges.

He faced a total of eight lewd acts to a child under age 16, two for first degree rape and, one for second degree rape by instrumentation and three for forcible oral sodomy.

At the conclusion of his preliminary hearing, May 19, he was bound over to stand trial.

Appearing recently before District Judge John Canavan, and as the result of a plea bargain, Simpson withdrew his previous pleas and entered guilty pleas.

The defendant and the state waived pre-sentence investigation. The Court found Simpson guilty as charged and sentenced him to 30 years on all 14 counts, with all but the first 15 years suspended.

The judge assessed Simpson a $100 fine, $100 VCA and court costs on all 14 counts. He was advised of special rules and conditions and mandatory registry on the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry, ordered to pay 991C fees and was placed on supervised probation with the Department of Corrections.

Simpson was told to report to the Probation Officer within 10 days of release and report to the Court Clerk’s Office within 180 days of release.

Assistant District Attorney Rachel Thompson handled the case for the state and Shelley Levisay was Simpson’s defense attorney.

At his arraignment on May 30, Simpson had pleaded not guilty and the court received the pleas. He was set him for the felony disposition docket on Sep. 26, the jury trial call docket on Oct. 13 and a jury trial at 9 a.m. Oct. 16.

Simpson was first arrested on a felony warrant through the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office the evening of Oct. 19 by Hyde and other deputies.
