Deferred terms in endangerment

One of two men charged with child endangerment and a drug-related count who previously pleaded guilty has drawn two deferred sentences.

Blake Michael Barrett, 21, of Seminole, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Sep. 13, 2022 with two felonies and a misdemeanor.

Appearing before District Judge John Canavan recently for sentencing recently, he was found guilty as charged and the court deferred sentence for a period of five years, assessed a $100 fine; a $100 VCA and court costs on both Counts 1 and 2.

Count 1 was child endangerment by driving under the influence and Count 2 was possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with intent to distribute. The sentences are to run concurrent with one each other.

Barrett is to obtain a drug and alcohol assessment and complete all recommended followup treatment, attend a Victim Impact Panel and pay 991 fees. The judge placed him on supervised probation with the Oklahoma Court Services and he is to report to the Probation Office and the Court Clerk’s Office.

The other defendant, Khalil Steele, 23, at the time, no address listed, was also charged with felony child endangerment, and with felony possession of a Schedule IV CDS with the intent to distribute.

Appearing before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk recently, the court found Steele had successfully completed the RID program and was released from the program.
