Meeker Board of Education

Meeker’s Board of Education this week approved continuing contracts for certified staff, support staff and for extra duty for the 2024-2025 school year.

Board members also voted to employ Melissa Newport as a Middle School teacher and accepted the resignation of Tommy Williams, custodian/ maintenance.

In their reports, High School Principal Brad Buxton said graduation went well last Friday and he informed the board of many activities this week and on into early summer. He said enrollment was 233.

Middle School Principal Matt Jones also spoke of the many activities taking place and advised enrollment is 174.

Elementary Principal Sarah Flowers said Kindergarten graduation was taking place Tuesday and invited board members to it. She informed the board enrollment was 354, an increase from the 327 when school began last August.

The board members also: Adopted a resolution for Schools and Libraries Universal Services (E-Rate) for 2023-2024. It authorizes filing of a form for applications for funding year 2024-2025 and payment of the applicant’s share upon approval of funding and receipt of services.

Approved a contract with Alcohol and Drug Testing Inc. for 2024-2025.

Agreed to a contact with Allison Brown as director of federal programs for 2024-2025.

Approved a contract with David Harp as school treasurer for 2024-2025.

Approved a contract with Select Physical Therapy for 2024-2025.

Agreed to a contract with Rider Classroom Spanish for 2024-2025.

Renewed a contract with the Department of Rehabilitation Services Transition to School to Work contract for 2024-2025.

Approved participation in the OSDH grant with Lincoln County Partnership for Child Well Being for 2024-2025.

Approved a contract with Horizon Digitally Enhanced Campus for 2024-2025.

Agreed to purchase an SUV on state bid. Approved the band to attend an out of state trip to Six Flags in Arlington, Texas. School Supt. Jeff Pruitt advised the board it is not an overnight trip.

Agreed to allow the Meeker Chamber to use buses to transport students to Prague for the summer swim program.
