Meeker: No action on indenture

Meeker’s Town Board of Trustees voted 4-1 this week to hold up and take no action on a Trust Indenture for purchasing and selling property for the Town’s Industrial Trust Authority.

Instead, they decided to set up a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 3 to discuss and take possible action on the newly created Industrial Trust Indenture.

Trustee Lanny Thompson made the motion to take no action and Trustee Mike Melton seconded the motion. Vice Mayor Mike Orman and Trustee Aaron Head joined them with Mayor Donna Weber casting the dissenting vote.

When Trustees got to that agenda item, Head immediately asked that “no decision be made on this tonight.”

Orman noted, “There is no reason to beat this to death until everyone is ready.”

Trustees voted 5-0 on a request for proposal to approve Leslie Wilbourn to be grant administrator for the Town of Meeker.

Wilbourn then updated Trustees on possible grant opportunities.

Trustees took no action to allow the mayor and Town Clerk to sign checks regarding a bank account for the previous Meeker Growth and Development checking account, but they decided to also put that on the agenda for the special meeting on June 3.

They approved an Interlocal Cooperative agreement between the Meeker Town Council and Circuit Engineering District No. 4.

Trustees voted to accept grant funds from the District Attorneys’ Council in the amount of $9,380 for body armor for the Meeker Police Department.

In other business, Trustees: Approved the engagement letter from Russell and Williams CPA’s P.C. to perform the 20232024 audit, agreeing to pay $9,600 upon completion of it. Payment will be split between General and Meeker PWA in the amount of $4,800 for each entity.

Agreed to close Meeker City Hall on July 5, 2024, with the employees using a day of accrued time off.

Meeting as the Public Works Authority, Trustees agreed to Pay Application No. 1 for Sunrise Construction in the amount of $4,826 as a 20 percent match.

They also approved Pay Application No. 2 upon completion and satisfactory operation for Sunrise Construction in the amount of $6,498 as a 20 percent match.

Trustees approved the PWA’s portion of the 2023-2024 audit in the amount of $4,800 and an additional $4,000 will be charged if an audit is performed in accordance with the Uniform Guidance. This is if an audit is required due to the PWA’s water loan.
