Where to celebrate Independence Day

Let freedom ring and fireworks fill the air. Most towns in Lincoln County are gearing up for their annual Independence Day celebrations. Here’s what they have in store.

Chandler is hosting its annual fireworks display by the Chandler Fire Department at Bell Cow Lake. Fireworks will start around 10 p.m. at Area D. The Meeker Chamber of Commerce is hosting Independence Day celebrations on July 3 at Meeker Lake. Festivities will kick off around 7 p.m. with fireworks at sunset. There will be food trucks, turtle races, vendors, games, live music and a raffle.

The first-ever Wellston Faith Family Freedom Event will be held on June 28 behind Wellston Elementary School. Celebrations start at 5 p.m. and include food trucks, vendors, games, and inflatables. After dark, there will be a nearly 30-minute fireworks display.

Stroud will be hosting a day of fun and activities in Foster Park. The fire department will have water games, while there will be free hot dogs and food. The band Loose Gravel will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. During this time, the swimming pool will also be open. Fireworks are set to go off at dusk.

Prague has a full day of fun planned for July 4 at Prague Park. Starting at 9 a.m., there will be a kids parade, followed by an opening ceremony at the Park Gazebo at 9:30 a.m. Then, there are turtle, frog and foot races at 10:15 a.m. with free watermelon at 11 a.m. The afternoon will have volleyball, cornhole, horseshoe and softball tournaments starting from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Free swimming also starts at 1 p.m. Fireworks are set for dark.

The Town of Davenport and Davenport Chamber of Commerce are hosting activities starting at 6 p.m. on July 4 at North Park. They’ll have kids’ games, adult games, watermelon, a hot dog eating contest and entertainment.
