A Stroud man who already was sentenced to prison recently after pleading guilty to a second degree murder charge, has also been sentenced on drug charges.
Dillion Young, 31, who last month was sentenced to 40 years in the Department of Corrections except for the first 20 years on an amended charge of second degree murder, was recently sentenced on two drug charges.
He was formally charged June 22, 2023 in Lincoln County District Court with aggravated trafficking illegal drugs, a felony and possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, a misdemeanor.
On Count was, he was accused on June 16, 2023 of possessing five grams or more of Fentanyl, a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
Count 2 charged him on the same day of possessing Methamphetamine, a CDS.
Appearing before District Judge Sarah Bridge, and as the result of a plea bargain, Young withdrew his previous plea of not guilty and entered a guilty plea to both counts. The court received the plea.
Both the state and defendant waived a pre-sentence investigation.
Judge Bridge sentenced Young on Count 1 to 40 years in DOC with all time suspended except for the first 20 years, fined him $100, assessed him a $100 VCA and court costs.
On Count 2, she sentenced him to one year in the Lincoln County Jail, fined him $100, along with a $100 VCA and court costs.
She ordered the sentences to run concurrently with each other with the other sentence she handed him on the second degree murder charge. She gave him credit for time served since June 20, 2023 and ordered him to pay 991 fees.
He was placed on supervised probation with DOC and ordered him to report to the Probation Office within 10 days of release from custody and to report to the Court Clerk’s Office within 180 days of release.
Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble prosecuted the case for the state and Young was defended by his attorney Shelley Levisay.
