Emily Kalka Staff Writer Kaylee Choate and Ian Radcliffe have been named Rotarians of the Month for March by the Chandler Rotary Club.
Kaylee Choate is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, Oklahoma State Honor Society and National Honor Society. She placed fifth at HOSA State for Nursing Assisting with Gordan Cooper Technology Center, was on the FCA Student Board for Student Council, and the FCCLA vice president of public relations. She has also won a Certificate of Excellence for a 4.0 GPA from 2021 to 2022.
Choate has been involved in many activities. She attended Girls State in May 2024 and attended the Health Science Program at Gordan Cooper Technology Center. Choate has been a member of Positive Peers; PSI; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Peer Mentors; Youth Action for Health Leadership; Business Professionals of America, where she qualified for state in Intermediate Word Processing; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, where she attended the District and State FCCLA Leadership Rallies; and FFA.
Choate also runs track and cross-country. She was state alternate for the 4x400 relay in 2022 and the 4x800 relay in 2023. For cross country, she received the Spirit of the Lion Award in 10th grade and in 12th grade, the Cross Country Athlete Award and was a state qualifier in 2022 and 2024.
Her community involvement includes volunteering at Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church, God and People’s Food Pantry and Chandler Recycles. With Gordan Cooper, Choate made and delivered Christmas cards to the Shawnee Care Center. Choate has worked at Dr. K. Dean Evans Jr.’s office, job-shadowed McBride athletic trainer Brian Choate, and at the Shawnee Care Center for clinicals.
After graduation, Choate will attend the University of Central Oklahoma in the fall, majoring in nursing.
Ian Radcliffe is the son of Amy and Matthew Radcliffe and has lived in Chandler his whole life and attended Chandler Public Schools. He has maintained a 4.0 GPA and was named valedictorian of his class.
Radcliffe is a member of the Chandler High School marching band and wind symphony, Chandler Drama Department and Academic Team. He is also involved in the Positive Peers program and the National Honor Society, where he volunteers at Chandler Recycling, reads to kindergarten students at East Side, and participates in rallies against the use of drugs and alcohol. He’s also a member of the BancFirst Student Board, Gifted and Talented, and Fish Club.
Radcliffe’s involvement in music and the arts has earned him many awards and accolades. His time and dedication in theatre has earned him All-State cast and many other outstanding actor awards. During his involvement with the choir, he earned superior awards in solo and ensemble performance, made the 2023 OkMEA All-State Mixed Choir, and was accepted to attend the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute for the past four years and hopes to make it his fifth year this summer.
Radcliffe loves playing in the band at Chandler and has earned many accomplishments. These achievements include three years of the ECOBDA All-District band, OSSBDA All-state band, and the OkMEA All-state band. On top of these accomplishments, he has also achieved superior ratings on his solos playing the French Horn.
Radcliffe is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Chandler and the Catalyst Youth Group. He is also a part of both the Worship team and Youth Praise team, where he plays piano and sings.
After graduation, Radcliffe plans to attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he will work towards obtaining a five-year bachelor’s degree in architecture. Once he graduates, he will work at either his father’s architectural firm or one he has discovered in Arkansas.
