A 10-year-old died last eek when the Utility Terrain Vehicle he was driving rolled on a county road north of Prague.
One of his passengers was critically injured. State Trooper Leonard Anderson said the crash occurred on County Road 3570 and County Road 1070, approximately two miles north of Prague shortly after 7 p.m.
Leonard said the 10-year-old male, whose name was withheld, was pronounced dead at the scene by Miller EMS.
He reported a 12-year-old female passenger, who name was also withheld, was MediFlighted to OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City in critical condition. A three-year-old passenger was uninjured, he said.
The trooper said the 2023 Yamaha UTV was traveling south on County Road 3570.
Due to excessive speed, the trooper said, the vehicle lost control and rolled. The driver was ejected, Anderson reported, and came to rest in the drainage ditch on the west side of the roadway.
Anderson listed cause of the collision as excessive speed.
Seat belts were equipped and in use by passengers 1 and 2 only, the trooper stated.
No helmets were in use, he said, and the crash occurred on a dirt/gravel road.
