During Citizen Potawatomi Nation’s annual Family Reunion Festival, Tribal members voted to re-elect John “Rocky” Barrett to the position of Chairman.
Voting results were announced Saturday, June 28, at CPN’s General Council, where it was announced Barrett received 1,508 votes. Charles Scott, who opposed him in the election, received 375 votes.
A third candidate, Brian Castenada, was disqualified from the election due to a failure to file the necessary documents.
Barrett has served as chairman of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation for 40 years. He also served as vice-chairman of the tribe from 1973 until being elected chairman in 1985.
