Baylee Weeks

Meeker FFA member Baylee Weeks has been exceptional in the livestock show world after an impressive run at three major events this season.

Weeks recently exhibited the Supreme Champion Purebred Breeding Gilt at the Tulsa State Fair! Winning the Tulsa State Fair and placing in the top four overall at EYO is no easy feat, as these events are widely recognized as two of Oklahoma’s most competitive shows, drawing top-tier exhibitors and high-quality livestock.

Not stopping there, Weeks also traveled to compete at the National Junior Swine Association (NJSA) show, where she exhibited her Yorkshire gilt to the title of Reserve Breed Champion.

This award is a major accomplishment as NJSA events draw some of the nation’s best exhibitors and breeding programs. Weeks’ favorite inspirational quote that she believes every time she steps into the show ring says, “You have to work hard in the dark, to shine in the light” by Kobe Bryant.

What this means to her is that all of the hard work that few notice happens at home and the time spent dedicating to her pigs makes all of the difference to get to the big stage.

Weeks’ success comes as a result of her commitment to the project year-round. From daily feeding and exercising her pigs to working on showmanship techniques, she dedicates countless hours to ensure her animals are in top condition.
