Stroud board approves PTO

The Stroud School Board approved the sanction of the Parkview Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at its regular meeting on Feb. 9.

The PTO is now considered a sanctioned adult organization for Stroud Public Schools, contingent on the completion of banking and financial considerations verified by Superintendent Joe Van Tyl.

It also gave Van Tyl approval to negotiate the hiring of a custodian for Parkview Elementary.

The Board approved the quote from FJM for the purchase of 70 band uniforms as the better quote. The total purchase will be $52,940, and the quote was chosen due to the expected longevity and product quality.

An interagency agreement with Family and Children’s Services, Inc. was approved with the effective date of Dec. 1, 2025, as well as a contract with Employee Evaluation System, Inc. for the 2026-27 school year for teacher evaluations. It also approved the use of Stroud Public School facilities by the Stroud Alumni Association for Alumni Weekend activities in May 2026.

Other items that were approved include: the receipt of any and all audit findings, a contract salary underpayment adjustment of $910 for employee T. Nicole Baker, an overnight stay request from the FFA for the FFA State Convention in Tulsa, and an overnight stay request by the slowpitch softball team for district and regional tournaments.

The school board took no action on an overnight stay request from FCCLA for the State FCCLA Convention in Tulsa in April.
