Seven school districts in Lincoln County and three in Pottawatomie County received nearly $680,000 in funds from the Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) in 2025.
The cooperative directed more than $2.6 million to schools across the state last year, according to a press release.
“Education remains a cornerstone of community growth and opportunity,” said Josh Holt, CEO of CVEC. “Through the $2.6 million investment in 2025, we are reaffirming our commitment to students, educators and the bright future they are building.”
The support was made possible through a partnership with the Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), according to the CVEC press release. Electric cooperatives pay a 2 percent gross receipts tax on revenue, and 95 percent of that goes straight to schools, based on how many miles of co-op power line run through each individual district.
