Antowine Narcissus Warrior was born to Andrew and Mae (Morris) Warrior on January 4, 1941 in Stroud and died on September 21, 2019, in Sterling Massachusetts, at the age of 78.
Warrior was raised in Stroud with traditional Sac and Fox tribal heritage by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Bessie Morris. His Native American name was Ta-ko-to-ka-si, meaning Roaring Thunder.
He became a Native American Artist at a young age and had his first exhibition at the Phil-brook Art Center in Tulsa at the age of 17 and attended several colleges to continue his art education.
His public collections can be seen at a number of places including the Sac and Fox Tribal Public Library and Stroud National Bank.
He also served in the United States Air Force.
Warrior was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Morris Warrior, and one sister, Barbara June Warrior.
Survivors include one brother, Thomas and his wife Barbara of Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma; one son, Ty Barrett of Renton, Washington; one granddaughter, Nicole Warrior; and other family, friends and fans.
A wake will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019, in the Sac and Fox Community Building. Burial will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019, at the Sac and Fox Cemetery in Stroud. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
