A semi-trailer commercial vehicle ran into the back of another semi and caught fire at mile marker 159 on the Turnpike last Friday morning. No casualties or major injuries were reported.
Westbound traffic was then rerouted through Chandler off of the turnpike. Both westbound lanes were closed for two hours before the inside lane was open, according to the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.
Four hours later, another commercial vehicle was straddling the barrier wall, blocking both east and west bound inside lanes, according to the Turnpike Authority. Due to inattentive driving, the semi swerved to avoid colliding with other vehicles stopped in traffic and drove onto the divider.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol worked the accident and both Chandler and Wellston fire departments were at the accidents.
The westbound semi was loaded with military guns and rifle ammunition, which caused the fire, according to Chandler Fire Department Chief Billy Buchannon.
Wreckers cleared both accidents and traffic cleared up at 3:10 Friday afternoon.
