Melvin Gale McBane, formerly of Sparks, was born May 27, 1940, in Delhi, Okla., and died Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at his home in Shawnee, Okla. He was 79 years old.
McBane, the son of Archie Mearl and Rosa Lee VanBuskirk McBane, married Mary Jayne Porch on October 19, 1964, in Fayetteville, Ark.
He served in the United States Air Force as a military police canine handler. He was a member of Church of Christ in Meeker before moving to Shawnee when he joined Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh, Okla.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; two sons, Michael Keith McBane and David Allan McBane; and his siblings, Carol, Louise, Pearl, Herschel, and Rosalee.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Melvin Eugene McBane, Kenneth Ray and Terry McBane, all of Guthrie, Okla., Angelia Gail McBane of the home, Brenda Kaye and Keith Kelly of Shawnee; his daughters-in-law, Angie McBane of Guthrie and Julie McBane of Savanna, Okla.; and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, Lloyd McBane and wife Ginger of Redding, Calif., Jewel Pope and husband Ben of Shawnee, Weslie McBane of Guthrie, Weltha McBane and wife Linda of Union City, Okla., and Wilford McBane and wife Rayleen of Moore, Okla.; and other family and friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Highland Church of Christ under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
