Chandler High School seniors Abigail LaNoue and Aaron Horn have been chosen as Lions of the Month by the Lion’s Club for the month of March.
Abigail LaNoue, the daughter of Mark and Debbie LaNoue, has taken concurrent classes and training in Health Careers at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla. She has earned certifications as a Certified Nurses Aide and Home Health Aide. She is also certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, and Long Term Care.
She has received special training in Patient Care Practices and Procedures, Workplace Safety, Medical Terminology and Medical Math. Her classes have made her familiar with Anatomy and Physiology. She was able to apply her education and training while receiving clinical experience at Colonial Estates, a long-term care and skilled nursing facility in Shawnee.
Abigail is part of the local chapters of Health Occupations Services of America; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; and Positive Peers.
She serves the community through Chandler Victory Life Church as part of their Youth Life Group and Worship Team. She has volunteered at the food banks in Chandler and Oklahoma City and at the concessions for school events.
Abigail plans to pursue a career in the medical field following graduation.
Aaron Horn is the son of Brian Horn and Kim Christian. He maintains a 3.88 grade point average while taking advanced classes in Algebra III and English I, II, III and IV. He completed concurrent classes in Intro to Psychology and American Federal Government at Rose State College in Midwest City, Okla.
Aaron was on the CHS Academic Team for four years and a member of the National Honor Society.
He participated in Positive Peers and Be A Light and was involved in Drama earning an invitation to become a part of Thespian Troupe 1825. His athletic endeavors include football, wrestling, cross-country and track.
He was involved in the community as an aide for a fourth grade teacher and helped out with the Department of Human Services annual Christmas party.
In addition to his schoolwork and extracurricular activities, Aaron has worked at McDonald’s for three years. After graduation, he plans to take the education course at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond to become an elementary school teacher.
