Money for Stroud water

Stroud received $161,000 in funding to rebuild two of the filters at the water treatment plant.

“We are still producing great water, but we’re doing that at half capacity at our water plant,” Stroud City Manager Bob Pearman said.

Although they are producing clean water and continuing to pass tests, Pearman said the water treatment plant is running at half capacity since two out of the four filters are down.

“We’ll have all four of them up and running which will allow us to produce more water,” he said.

By rebuilding the two filters, Pearman said this will allow the plant to back off on how hard the plant is working to supply water.

“We should be in great shape for a long time when this gets done,” Pearman said. “This brings us back to where we should be.”

Pearman said $100,000 is a forgivable loan from the Department of Environmental Quality and $61,000 is a grant from the Water Resource Board.

Pearman said the total cost of the project is $180,000.

“We’re really close to being fully funded,” he said.

Pearman said they are doing the project and are hoping to get construction started sometime in the fall.

“Our employees are doing a great job to make it work.” he said. “They have to work extra hard at the water plant.”
