1. Update on Meeker Lake “Quapaw 15 Project
A. We found out why Oklahoma City Conservation office was so hard to get on the phone.
Wade Helms at the Chandler Conservation office told me the OKC office has been sent home again for COVID-19. I guess COVID has affected their cell phones also because they do not seem to work either.
B. Some people say COVID will go away with the November election. Have to wait and see on that one.
2. Update on Glenncrest Park
A. Rains have halted the seal coating process on the Basketball court. Weatherman showing a dry spell so it should happen maybe this week.
B. More dirt was added to the flower beds.
C. Rocks are being placed for borders.
3. Update on Growth & Development
A. Groups are traveling to other car shows & events passing out flyers.
B. This week’s meeting was cancelled.
C. More vendors are getting signed up.
D. More Cars, Trucks, Rat Rods, ATV’s, Floats, Bicycles, 4x4, Off Roads, Semi-trucks are being entered every day.
E. More businesses are jumping on board also. We really do appreciate everything the businesses, sponsors and all the help that is being showed to this event.
F. Come enjoy a full day of fun with the parade at 10:30 AM, car show 10:30 – 3:00 PM., live music all day, gun shoot-outs every hour. Starting at noon until 5:00 PM. Come taste all the new food & drink vendors we will have this year and enjoy a lot of games.
The Meeker High School teachers and students will sponsor and conduct some games and events.
G. Over $3,000 worth of awards and prizes will be given away this year.
H. A 50-50 raffle ticket should pay someone a hefty amount of cash. So, buy plenty of the 50- 50 tickets. Half goes to Growth & Development and the other half goes in your pocket for having the lucky ticket drawn.
4. Police Department Update
A. Neighborhood Watch meeting at City Hall was September 28th at 6:30 PM. Food and drinks sponsored by Whiskey Wings, LaDonna’s and Simple Simon, as promised by your Town Administrator.
5. Update on Chamber of Commerce
A. Plan on attending the Fall Festival, Saturday, October 3rd at the Meeker High School Bus Barn. Sounds like a lot of fun! I hope the dunk tank is there again, this year.
